I’m a metro DC-based social media pro and the Social Media Marketing Manager for XO Communications, one of the largest telecommunications companies in the U.S. I manage all of XO’s social media activities including listening, networking and publishing (the foundation stones for social media). I plan and roll out  all of the social media training for XO’s 4,000+ employees, so as you can imagine there’s plenty to do.

I like to be active in my community and speak a lot about social media at universities and schools in the metro DC area. Contribution is important to me so I help manage the Twitter subcommittee of the Social Media Committee at the Northern Virginia Technology Council. I’m also on the board of directors for Loudoun Habitat for Humanity.

I’m entrepreneurial in spirit and spent some of my professional career as a consultant. I learned a lot about how to start a small consulting business. I had successes but I also made mistakes. The mistakes prompted me to write a book called Startup Success. I’m a practical guy and really appreciate guides and “how to” advice. The book reviews 50+ Web 2.0 and social media sites that can help you as you start your new business and continue to grow it. Rieva Lesonsky, former editor-in-chief of Entrepreneur Magazine co-authored it.

I started a Linkedin Group about two years ago called NoVa Search and Social Media Marketing and organize social media gatherings with the 600+ members. If you’re interested in learning more about social media please feel free to join the group.

Finally, and this is the best part, I’m a husband and a dad to two fantastic boys whom I love very much.
